Project Title : Vibro Compaction for Pulau Tekong Reclamation Project

Technique : Vibro Compaction

The Project

The project site is located at Pulau Tekong, the largest of Singapore outlying island just off Singapore’s northeastern coast. Toa-Jan De Nul Joint Venture was awarded the contract to carry out the reclamation of about 1400 hectares of land at Pulau Tekong.

Perimeter sand key bund with rock revetments is constructed to protect the inner reclamation area against strong wave actions. In this project, a total of about 15km long perimeter sand key bund was constructed. Vibro compaction from both land and marine were carried out to densify the reclaimed sand fill to stabilize the perimeter sand key bund prior to the construction of rock revetments.

About 18 million cubic meters of sand was improved using 4 Land Vibro Compaction rigs and 2 Twin Vibro-Marine barges to meet the Client’s specification. The compaction depths varied from 5m to 43m.
